MOTORYSE Launches Retrofit Shade Automation at CEDIA 2026

MOTORYSE is bringing retrofit window-covering automation to the professional smart-home market, debuting its HemBar Motor at CEDIA Expo 2026.
The new system is designed to motorize existing shades, blinds and curtains without requiring homeowners to replace their current window treatments.
Unlike traditional shade motors mounted at the top of a window covering, MOTORYSE places its motor in the bottom hem bar. That design makes charging and servicing the motor accessible without a ladder. The shades can also still be operated manually if there’s a Wi-Fi outage.
MOTORYSE says the system can be controlled through an app, remote, voice assistants or compatible smart-home platforms, including Control4, Josh.AI, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit.
Why It Matters
For integrators and shade professionals, servicing high or difficult-to-reach shades has long been a headache. A motor positioned at the bottom could eliminate the need to bring out a ladder for routine charging or service calls.
The manual functionality is particularly useful because many shades are installed in extremely high or hard-to-access locations—sometimes directly above expensive furniture such as a client's $40,000 grand piano. Or above an expensive TV. In those situations, avoiding a ladder isn't just more convenient; it can reduce the risk of damaging the client's property.
