Fosi Audio has launched the DAP Neo, a new portable digital audio player that brings back the familiar feel of a classic MP3 player while adding modern features like high-resolution audio support and Bluetooth connectivity. It's the latest addition to the company's Fosi Moment lineup, joining the Disc Nano and Merak CD players as part of Fosi's growing collection of dedicated music devices. The DAP Neo features a compact, full-metal body with a physical control wheel, side buttons, and a simple interface that keeps things straightforward for everyday listening. Under the hood is a CS43198 audio chip with support for high-resolution lossless playback, including FLAC, WAV, APE, and DSD files, along with more familiar formats like MP3 and M4A.
The DAP Neo offers a 3.5mm headphone jack for those who prefer wired listening, along with Bluetooth connectivity with SBC support for wireless headphones and speakers. Fosi Audio rates battery life at up to 12 hours, which should be enough for a full day of listening without having to reach for a charger. Music is stored locally on a microSD card, with either a 16GB or 64GB card included depending on which version you choose. Both versions support expandable storage up to 256GB, giving listeners the flexibility to build up their music libraries without relying on streaming services or an internet connection.
Why It Matters
Fosi Audio... what are you doing? First CD players, and now we're bringing back MP3 players? Well, technically it's a portable digital audio player, but you get the idea! It's pretty wild seeing dedicated music players making a comeback, especially with how much music streaming has taken over. Between the new CD players and now the DAP Neo, Fosi seems to be going all-in on the nostalgia, and we're here for it. For anyone who misses the days of having a dedicated device just for music, this could be a fun option. We're curious to see how it sounds and whether Fosi can deliver the same kind of value we've come to expect from its other audio gear.
Pricing and Availability
The Fosi Audio DAP Neo is available now, starting at $79.99 with an included 16GB microSD card. A version with a 64GB card is also available for $119.99, with both models supporting expandable storage up to 256GB.
