XTU has launched the S7 Pro Max, a 4K action camera aimed at travel, cycling, and outdoor use. It’s a step up from the S7 Pro, with a bigger 1/1.28-inch RYYB CMOS sensor, AI image processing, and an F2.8 lens. It shoots 50MP stills and 4K HDR video at up to 50fps, and XTU claims up to 14 stops of dynamic range. The larger sensor should help in tricky lighting, like a shaded trail, a city street at night, or the last bit of daylight.
Image quality is only half the story for a camera you’re moving with, though. For steady footage, the S7 Pro Max has Super EIS 5.0 stabilization plus horizon stabilization and 360-degree horizon correction. The 158-degree wide-angle lens takes in more of the scene, and Gyroflow support lets you export gyroscope data and fine-tune stabilization in editing. HDR, Night Mode, and X-LOG recording are also on board for anyone who wants more room to play with their footage.

There’s a 2.29-inch touchscreen on the back and a 1.4-inch display on the front, which makes changing settings and framing yourself easier. A magnetic quick-release system lets you swap between compatible mounts, and the camera also offers voice control, vertical shooting, and pre-recording, which captures the moments just before you hit record. Wi-Fi 6 and the XTU GO app handle wireless previews and file transfers, and an optional XTU MIC 1 Bluetooth microphone is available for audio. The replaceable 1,800mAh battery is rated for roughly 200 minutes of 1080p/30fps recording. One thing to note: the camera isn’t waterproof on its own. For underwater filming you’ll need a separate housing, which XTU rates to 30 meters.
Why It Matters
We tested the original S7 Pro and found it offered solid value for the money, so we’re curious to see what XTU has done with the Max. The bigger sensor sounds like a promising upgrade, especially if you shoot outdoors where the light can change fast. Better low-light and high-contrast performance could make a real difference day to day, particularly if you like taking your camera along on rides, hikes, and other adventures.
We’re also hoping the Max offers more than better image quality. The magnetic quick-release mounting, Super EIS 5.0, and Gyroflow support all sound like nice additions, but we’ll have to see how much difference they make in real use. If XTU keeps the value that made the S7 Pro appealing and makes the camera easier to use, the S7 Pro Max could be well worth a look.
