Naim Audio has introduced the Mu-so Utopia, a new all-in-one audio system that combines high-end stereo listening with Dolby Atmos support for movies, TV, and gaming. While its long, rectangular design might remind you of a premium soundbar, Naim has built it to serve as a complete home audio system, packing 15 Focal speaker drivers and 720 watts of amplification into a single enclosure. It's also the first Naim product to carry the Utopia name, which has long been associated with Focal's high-end audio equipment. The system combines Class A/B and Class D amplification with Focal's M-profile W-cone midrange drivers and PRISM tweeters, along with Dolby Atmos 7.1.2 support. Using beamforming and crosstalk cancellation technologies, it's designed to create a more immersive soundstage without needing speakers scattered around the room.
Beyond its speaker hardware, the Mu-so Utopia uses Naim's latest Pulse Platform for music streaming, with support for high-resolution audio up to 384kHz/32-bit and access to popular streaming services. To help get the most out of that sound, Naim has also included ADAPT (Adaptive Acoustic Personal Tuning), which automatically adjusts the system's performance based on the dimensions of your room through the Focal & Naim app. This should help listeners get a more balanced sound without having to spend too much time adjusting settings themselves.

The Mu-so Utopia is also designed to work with more than just streaming music. HDMI eARC, optical, and RCA connections allow users to connect a television, gaming console, CD player, or other audio equipment, while an external subwoofer can be added for those who want more bass. For larger home audio setups, the system supports multiroom playback with up to 32 compatible Focal and Naim streaming devices, along with integration with Google Home, Siri, and home automation platforms such as Control4, Savant, and Crestron. All of this is housed in a black anodized aluminum chassis with precision-machined metal grilles, a red Utopia accent, and Naim's signature volume control. Despite everything packed inside, the design remains relatively understated, with a soundbar-like shape that should fit naturally into a living room or dedicated entertainment space.
Why It Matters
Well, this is wild. There's a lot going on with this thing, and we're not entirely sure whether to call it a soundbar or a full-fledged audio system. Personally, we're leaning toward a very fancy soundbar, especially with the Dolby Atmos support and all those drivers packed into one enclosure.
Then again, Naim has a history of making some seriously impressive audio equipment, even if its prices aren't exactly for the faint of heart. At $6,500, the Mu-so Utopia is certainly a big investment, and we're interested to see whether it can deliver the kind of performance you'd normally expect from a more traditional multi-speaker setup. If Naim can pull that off in a single unit, that would be quite impressive.
Pricing and Availability
The Naim Mu-so Utopia will be available starting January 2027, priced at $6,500 USD or $8,500 CAD. It will be sold exclusively through authorized retailers in the Focal Powered by Naim network.
