Mytek Audio has launched the Empire V2.0, an updated version of its flagship DAC, streamer and preamplifier, at the Warsaw Audio Show 2026 in Poland. The new model has a redesigned DAC and a revised software platform. It also includes a balanced headphone amplifier and can record analog sources such as vinyl in high resolution. The DAC is a new dual-mono hybrid 6-bit design running at 12MHz. Mytek describes it as the company's best DAC design yet, citing a 130dB performance figure. The power supply uses a separate transformer for each channel, while other hardware features include an analog output stage and a preamp that offers a choice of analog, or digital volume control.

For streaming, Mytek has upgraded to the latest generation of NUC computer hardware alongside an updated software platform. Qobuz Connect is available now, with TIDAL Connect and Spotify Connect planned for future updates. The Empire V2.0 also offers a built-in Roon Core option for listeners who want a more capable networked audio setup, while software updates can be delivered over the internet. Beyond streaming, the device can record stereo analog inputs, including vinyl playback, in high-resolution PCM or DSD. These recordings are stored on the internal drive and can be played back immediately. Its high-resolution DSP path also supports audio software plugins for features such as room correction and scratch or noise removal.
Why It Matters
At $20,000, the Empire V2.0 is aimed at serious hi-fi enthusiasts who want a DAC, streamer, preamplifier and headphone amplifier in one device. The recording function and plugin-based DSP are the less common features here, setting it apart from a standalone DAC. For those with a sizable vinyl collection or an interest in fine-tuning their audio setup, these features are certainly worth a closer look.
Pricing and Availability
The Empire V2.0 comes in silver or black and costs $20,000 in the US and €20,000 in Europe. Mytek says it is shipping now. Matching Empire GanFET amplifiers cost $10,000 or €10,000 each and can be used singly as a stereo amplifier or in pairs as monoblocks.
