BIC America Brings Back RtR Brand With New On-Wall Home Theater Speakers

BIC America is bringing back the RtR brand with a new line of on-wall speakers designed to deliver traditional home theater performance without taking up valuable floor space.
The new RtR Elite On-Wall Series includes three on-wall towers, two center channels and two dual-angle surround speakers. The lineup is built around today’s increasingly large, wall-mounted TVs, offering an alternative to both floor-standing speakers and soundbars.

The OWT65, OWT75 and OWT85 towers are designed to complement 65-, 75- and 85-inch-class displays. Rather than using ultra-thin cabinets, the speakers feature internally braced MDF enclosures, dual 4.5-inch woofers and four passive radiators to provide additional cabinet volume, output and bass extension.
The lineup also puts an emphasis on installation flexibility. The center-channel options can be mounted above or below a TV, while the S2040 and S3070 surrounds offer different mounting angles to help accommodate difficult room layouts and expand the listening area.
The speakers are passive and require an AV receiver or amplifier, with BIC recommending pairing them with a subwoofer crossed over at 80Hz or higher. The system can be configured for 5.1, 7.1 and immersive home theater setups.
Why It Matters
Here's the big question: Are these actually a better choice than a sleek soundbar?
There's no denying that the RtR Elite speakers aren't exactly what we'd call eye candy. The larger on-wall cabinets are considerably more visible than today's minimalist soundbars, and that's an important tradeoff for anyone who cares about keeping a clean, modern TV wall.
But BIC is betting that homeowners willing to sacrifice some aesthetics will get something in return: better speaker separation, more output and a true multichannel setup, without putting speakers on the floor.
The real test will be whether these speakers sound good enough and install easily enough to justify their bulk. If they do, RtR could have an interesting option for people who have outgrown their soundbar but don't want a traditional speaker system taking over the room.
The lineup starts at $429 for an OWT65 tower and is expected to begin shipping September 1 through BIC America's distributor network and Amazon.
