Sony Expands Headphone Lineup With Three New Models and Hello Kitty Editions

Sony is expanding its wireless headphone lineup with three new models covering the premium, mid-range, and entry-level categories: the WH-1000XM4C (XM4 2nd Gen), WH-CH730N, and WH-CH530.

The WH-1000XM4C sits at the top of the new lineup at $299.99, bringing Sony’s 1000X noise cancellation and sound tuning to a refreshed version of the popular WH-1000XM4. It adds a 10-band equalizer and comes in Lavender, Black, and Platinum Silver.
Moving down the lineup, the $179.99 WH-CH730N is aimed at commuters, students, hybrid workers, and everyday listeners. Sony claims up to 50 hours of battery life, improved call quality, noise cancellation, and an all-day-comfort-focused lightweight design. It will be offered in five colors, including Pink, Blue, and Oat.
The $69.99 WH-CH530 is the entry-level option, offering up to 55 hours of battery life, call-quality improvements, volume controls designed with hearing protection in mind, and a selection of playful colors including Coral and Mint.
Sony is also teaming up with Hello Kitty for limited-edition headphone bundles. Selected models, including the WH-1000XM6, WH-CH730N, and WH-CH530, will receive exclusive carrying cases and tote bags with Hello Kitty-inspired styling.
Why It Matters
First off, we’re loving these colors. Sony is clearly having some fun with this lineup, and the Hello Kitty collaboration takes that even further. But as good as they look, the real test is going to be how they perform.
With headphones like these, the big three are always comfort, active noise cancellation, and battery life. Sony is making some impressive claims, particularly with up to 50 hours of battery life on the WH-CH730N and 55 hours on the WH-CH530. The question is whether those numbers translate into a great everyday experience.
Can you actually wear them comfortably for hours? Does the noise cancellation hold up on a plane, during a commute, or in a busy office? And how close does real-world battery life come to Sony’s ratings?
