The CT01 uses a 6-stage filtration system designed to reduce chlorine, rust and common impurities while retaining minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Unlike reverse osmosis systems, Waterdrop says the CT01 does not significantly reduce TDS, allowing more of the water's natural mineral content to remain.
The big feature is its ability to dispense both hot and cold filtered water almost instantly. Users can choose from five preset options for hot water, coffee, tea, formula and cold water, or manually adjust the temperature from 113°F to 203°F. Water volume can also be adjusted from 4 ounces to unlimited, while Favorite Mode lets users save a preferred temperature and volume combination. The CT01 has a 1.32-gallon capacity, equivalent to around 28 six-ounce cups, and its slim 3.7-inch side tank is designed to make refilling easier. Since it requires no plumbing installation, the system can be placed in kitchens, offices, dorms and other indoor spaces with access to a power outlet.
Waterdrop is also emphasizing the system's sustainability. The CT01 produces no wastewater, unlike traditional reverse osmosis systems, and each filter can process up to 300 gallons of water. Waterdrop says this could help reduce the use of more than 4,500 plastic bottles per year. The Waterdrop CT01 is available now on Amazon in the U.S. for $229.99, discounted from its $289.99 suggested retail price. It is also available in the UK for £189.
Why It Matters
The CT01 is an interesting combination of a water filter and an instant hot-and-cold dispenser. Having purified water ready to go at whatever temperature you want could be especially useful for busy kitchens, offices, dorms and shared spaces where constantly boiling water or keeping chilled water available can become a hassle. In the morning, I hate having to wait for boiling water, this would be a lifesaver! The other question is how well Waterdrop has managed to keep the system quiet while handling both heating and cooling. For something designed to sit on a countertop and potentially be used throughout the day, noise could make a big difference to the overall experience.
The CT01 also has plenty of flexibility built in, from coffee and tea presets to customizable temperatures and saved settings. With a current U.S. price of $229.99, it will be interesting to see how the convenience and performance hold up in everyday use.
