RØDE has launched the LPA1, a new low-profile studio arm designed to keep microphones and other equipment out of the camera’s line of sight while still providing plenty of positioning flexibility. The LPA1 supports up to 2kg (4.4 lbs), making it RØDE’s highest-capacity studio arm to date. Its all-metal construction is designed to support everything from broadcast microphones like the PodMic and Procaster to larger condenser microphones such as the NT1 series.

The arm offers 750mm of horizontal reach, 360-degree articulation, and vertical adjustment of 90 degrees up and 60 degrees down. An integrated ball mount provides additional positioning options, including setups above or below desk level. RØDE has also built cable management directly into the arm to keep XLR and USB cables tucked away. The included clamp supports desks up to 70mm thick, while 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch, and 5/8-inch thread compatibility allows the LPA1 to hold microphones, cameras, lights, and other accessories.

Why It Matters

Okay, this is neat. My current generic Amazon mic arm is starting to get a little squeaky, so maybe it’s time for an upgrade! I’m especially curious to see just how low-profile the LPA1 is in person and how compactly it can push back when it’s not being used. $139 is a little pricey for a mic arm if you ask me, but the higher weight capacity, all-metal construction, and cleaner setup could make it worthwhile.

Pricing and Availability

The RØDE LPA1 is available now for $139 in black, with worldwide shipping available. RØDE says a white version is coming soon.
