BOOX has introduced the Picco, a tiny 3.97-inch ePaper reader designed for quick reading sessions on the go. Weighing just 58 grams and roughly the size of a playing card, it’s the first device in BOOX’s new Tiles product lineup. The Picco features a 235 PPI monochrome ePaper display with adjustable front lighting and color temperature. Readers can navigate using either the touchscreen or physical page-turn buttons, while four-way screen rotation allows the display to adapt to different orientations.

One of the more interesting features is its optional magnetic case, which allows the Picco to attach to the back of a phone for easy carrying. The device also includes customizable screensavers and utility apps such as Pomodoro, Todo, and Countdown. For storage, the Picco comes with a 16GB microSD card and supports cards up to 2TB. Books and other files can be transferred using the BOOX Tiles app, a web browser, or a direct USB-C connection.

Why It Matters

This is some seriously cool tech. A tiny ePaper reader that can live on the back of your iPhone? Sign us up! At $99.99, the price is surprisingly reasonable, too. We’re curious to see how the battery life actually holds up in real-world use, and hopefully we’ll get a chance to test it out for ourselves. This could be a huge device and I hope this one is a big hit!

Pricing and Availability

The BOOX Picco is available to pre-order now starting at $99.99 through the official BOOX Shop.
