Andover Audio has introduced the Andover-One DD, its highest-performance component turntable to date, combining a direct-drive system with a carbon-fiber tonearm and factory-installed Audio-Technica cartridge. The Andover-One DD uses a digitally controlled direct-drive motor with support for 33⅓, 45, and 78rpm records.
Andover claims speed accuracy within 0.2% and wow and flutter below 0.15%. An 8.8-inch carbon-fiber tonearm provides adjustable tracking force, anti-skating, and vertical tracking angle (VTA). Its removable headshell uses a standard SME-style twist-lock connection, making it easier to swap cartridges or keep multiple cartridge and headshell combinations ready for different records.

Each turntable comes equipped with an Audio-Technica AT-VM520xEB moving-magnet cartridge. Owners can also upgrade to other compatible VMx-series styli without replacing the entire cartridge. Andover has opted for semi-automatic operation rather than making the turntable completely manual. Moving the tonearm over a record automatically starts the platter, while an Auto Stop system stops it once the record finishes. Both functions use contact-free optical sensors. The turntable is built around a thick MDF plinth with adjustable vibration-absorbing feet, along with a damped cast-aluminum platter and anti-resonant silicone rubber mat. A hinged dustcover is also included.
Why It Matters
We can't wait to check out the new Andover-One DD. Andover makes some solid gear, and at $999, this looks like an extremely competitive spot for a higher-end turntable. We’re interested to see what Andover has managed to deliver at that price and how the new direct-drive model performs in real-world use. At least on paper, there’s a lot to like here.
Pricing and Availability
The Andover-One DD Direct Drive turntable is available now for $999 through Andover Audio and select retailers.
