Marantz has announced its new CINEMA Series 2 lineup, updating its premium AV receivers with improved audio performance, expanded room correction, enhanced gaming support and new installation features. The range includes the CINEMA 50 Series 2, CINEMA 60 Series 2, CINEMA 60 DAB Series 2 (Europe only) and the slimline CINEMA 70s Series 2.
Every model now features a new 32-bit, eight-channel DAC designed to improve imaging, dynamics and surround performance. Marantz has also expanded optional Dirac Live Room Correction support to the CINEMA 60 Series 2, CINEMA 60 DAB Series 2 and CINEMA 70s Series 2, while the flagship CINEMA 50 Series 2 continues to support the full Dirac ecosystem, including Bass Control and Active Room Treatment (ART).
The new receivers also add 1440p video pass-through and AMD FreeSync support for gamers, alongside a future firmware update that will enable Bluetooth LE Audio. Other additions include Web Control 2.0 for browser-based setup, Channel Level Monitoring and upgraded HEOS streaming capabilities.
The flagship CINEMA 50 Series 2 also gains Dolby Atmos Channel Expander and a new Center Bi-Amp Mode for improved dialogue performance.
The Marantz CINEMA Series 2 launches beginning August 12, with prices starting at $1,500 for the CINEMA 70s Series 2 and reaching $3,000 for the flagship CINEMA 50 Series 2.
Why It Matters
Rather than completely redesigning its AV receiver lineup, Marantz has focused on meaningful upgrades where they matter most. Expanded Dirac Live support, improved DAC hardware and new gaming features make the CINEMA Series 2 a more compelling option for enthusiasts looking to build or upgrade a premium home theater without sacrificing the warm sound signature Marantz is known for.
