Olight’s ArkPro Ultra Now Comes in Amber Orange, and It Looks Better Than I Expected

Olight has added another color to the ArkPro Ultra lineup, and this one might be one of its best yet. The new Amber Orange finish takes Olight’s flat-style EDC flashlight and gives it a color that looks considerably different in person than the name might suggest.

Rather than a simple bright orange, Amber Orange has a mix of copper, orange and amber tones that change slightly depending on the lighting. After getting one in hand, I think this is one of those products where photos and video do a much better job of showing the finish than a typical product render.

What’s Different About the ArkPro Ultra?

This is my first ArkPro Ultra, although I already own two of the regular ArkPro models, so the overall design is very familiar. The Ultra isn't a complete redesign of the ArkPro. One of the primary upgrades is Olight's OAL material, which gives the flashlight a slightly more premium overall feel compared with my standard ArkPros. Maximum output also increases to 1,700 lumens, versus 1,500 lumens on the regular ArkPro.

Beyond those changes, the fundamental ArkPro experience remains largely the same. If you're already familiar with the standard model, moving to the Ultra isn't going to feel like switching to an entirely different flashlight.

Amber Orange Is the Main Attraction

For this particular release, though, the specifications aren't really the story. The new finish is. Olight has been doing some genuinely interesting things with color lately. I'm already a big fan of the Nebula Purple finish, but Amber Orange might be even better.

There's enough variation in the finish that simply calling it "orange" doesn't really describe it. Under some lighting it has a stronger copper appearance, while elsewhere the orange and amber tones become more obvious. It gives what is ultimately a very practical piece of EDC gear considerably more personality.

It also happens to match my Benchmade Taggedout surprisingly well. They're not identical colors, but put the two next to each other and they look like they were made to be carried together.

A Small Update, but a Great-Looking One

If you already own an ArkPro, I wouldn't look at Amber Orange as some major reason to replace it. Likewise, the ArkPro Ultra's additional 200 lumens alone isn't enough to make my two regular ArkPros suddenly feel outdated. This release is much simpler than that: it's a new version of an existing product for people who really like the new look. And Olight nailed the look.

After seeing Amber Orange in person, I think it's one of the company's best recent finishes. The copper-orange-amber combination gives the ArkPro Ultra a distinctive appearance without going completely over the top, and the upgraded Ultra construction makes for a nice first experience with Olight's higher-end version of the ArkPro.

I thought Nebula Purple was going to be difficult to beat. Amber Orange is making that decision considerably harder.
